KABAKA PYRAMID WINS GRAMMY
KABAKA PYRAMID Wins 2022 Best Reggae Album Grammy Award

Kabaka Pyramid came out victorious as the winner of the 2023 Grammy for Best Reggae Album, besting the field of 5 Jamaican entertainers. His Album, “The Kalling”, was nominated along with Sean Paul’s “Scorcha”, Koffee’s “The Gifted”, Shaggy’s”’Come Fly Wid Me”, and Protoje’s “The Third Time’s the Charm”. The anticipation ended when presenter Arturo O’Farrill announced the “Blessed” singer as the winner during the 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, held in Los Angeles, California.
The surprised winner thanked his parents, family, friends, management team, as well as those who worked on his album. He sent special shouts to Stephen and Damion ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, who produced the sophomore album. “We just some kids from Kingston Jamaica,” Kabaka stated after thanking everybody in his camp. The entertainer took time to dedicate the win to Stephen Marley’s son and Bob Marley’s grandson Jo Mersa, who died in late 2022. Last year at the 64th Grammy Awards, the Best Reggae Album was won by US-based band SOJA with “Beauty in the silence”. This caused uproar amongst reggae fans and triggered much debates within the reggae fraternity. The commotion came about as it was evident that a non-Jamaican who won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
Kabaka Pyramid is a reggae and roots singer, songwriter, and producer from Kingston, Jamaica. He is known for his conscious and uplifting lyrics, which often address political and social issues. His music blends elements of reggae, dub, hip-hop, and soul, and he has collaborated with a number of well-known artists in the reggae and hip-hop communities. Some of his popular songs include “Well Done”, “Free From Chains”, “Never Gonna Be a Slave”, and “Blessed”. Kabaka Pyramid has released several albums and mixtapes, including “Lead the Way” and “Accurate”. He is considered one of the leading artists in the new generation of reggae musicians and has gained a large following of fans around the world. After the Grammy win, many considers him a force in reggae going forward. We extend our congratulations to Kabaka on taking home the coveted title. All team members who participated on the winning album were given a Grammy as well.
