It is with sad hearts that the music world heard about the loss of another artist. The shocking news came after confirmation that dancehall dj Gully Bop died. Born Robert Lee Malcolm, the crafty and skillful entertainer had a remarkable journey in his short music career. The reggae community is left mourning after he passed away at Kingston public hospital from medical complications. It has been stated that the artist have been suffering from his illness for quite some time.
He rose to fame as a social media sensation and became known for his catchy rhymes and lyrical skills. He quickly excelled at his craft and was in huge demand for shows on a global level. The artiste was said to be homeless and a drug addict at the time, but his rags-to-riches story inspired many while simultaneously giving him a second chance at life.

Up to the time of his death, Bop reportedly became broke and homeless; only surviving on the generosity of strangers and a local pastor, who begged for the public’s assistance. It’s unfortunate that he battled a mysterious illness and none of his close friends were able to assist. The news reports mention that he had been dealing with a hernia and various other medical complications. Despite his struggles, he continued to make music and left a lasting impact on the dancehall genre. His songs like “Everybody want a wuk off a mi,” “Body Specialist,” “Who She Want?” “Hope and Pray,” and “Street Wise” have left a mark on dancehall music. His journey and music will be remembered by his fans and the dancehall community.
