BOUNTY KILLER RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS LIFETIME AWARD

PLATINUM ARTIST AWARD FOR THE GENERAL

ago that dancehall legend Bounty killer was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 International Reggae and World Music Award (IRAWMA). Fast forward a few months, the Grammy winner was yet again bestowed with another prestigious honor. Born Rodney Price, the dancehall general is known for his signature rude-boy style and bold lyrics. He is credited as the best dub plate specialist in the history of dancehall. A conformation on a well deserved recognition for his contributions to dancehall and reggae music. Receiving the Platinum Eminence Recording Artist Award in the UK is a testament to his enduring talent and influence on the music fraternity. With a career spanning over thirty years, his dedication to the genre has undoubtedly left an incredible mark on the music scene. The fact that he received his visa for England after fifteen years and to coincide with the release of his “Time Bomb” EP is certainly a remarkable turn of events and a great opportunity for him to continue promoting his work in the UK. He collaborated with Cham on the latest project and is gloating in the support of his huge fan base.

The Eminence award is the brainchild of Michael “Chubba” Gordon, CEO and founder of Stereograph Foundation UK Awards. Known as “Minister” in the music industry, Gordon is impressed by Rodney’s generosity and humanitarian services to others through his Bounty foundation. He further elaborated that “there were only two recipients of the coveted award (Mafia & Fluxy and Freddy Mcgreggor) prior to Bounty Killer, his work and empathy from 1992 to present is second to none”. The platinum and gold award was presented to Mr. Price by Wayne Irie and it read as follows:

“I’m presenting this platinum worldwide Eminence artist award to Bounty Killer, for his remarkable commitment and outstanding contribution to dancehall and the reggae music industry and for nurturing and helping many other artists to become international artists themselves. He has shown a vast amount of empathy towards many people in Jamaica and is a voice for those less privileged to speak for themselves. His distinguished accomplishments within the music industry from 1992 to present 2023 spanning over 31 years is to be highly commended. Congratulations, we salute you and GOD Bless you”.

Though cross, angry and miserable at times, bounty is one of the most admired dancehall toasters on a global level. He started the “Alliance” and was a member of the “Scare Dem Crew” throughout the 90’s. He is still the only artist who helped paved the way and open the doors for most young dj’s . The list consists of Vybz Kartel, Wayne Marshall, Cham, Movado, Busy Signal, K Queens and many others. The continuous rivalry between him and Beenie Man gained worldwide attention after the “Verzuz” battle. It is with this influence that many consider him the “general” of the dancehall.

Receiving this award in the UK is a testament of his talent and persistence over 30n years. He waited 15 years for his visa and is now ready to entertain his fans in person.
