SEAN PAUL Joins Pandora’s Billionaire Club

Reggae Grammy winner Sean Paul has been setting trends for quite some time with his catalog of hits. The chart topping dancehall artist has joined the Pandora Billionaires Club in terms of spins on the platform. This came after riding high off the success of the “Go Down Deh” collaboration with Spice and Shaggy. Sean Paul, who has climbed close to 1.8 billion spins, is expected to reach the two-billion mark by the end of the year. The presentation was held in Sean Paul’s hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. It was done to commemorate Paul’s 1.7 billion streams to date on the streaming platform. In addition, Paul is now a part of Pandora’s Pop Billionaires and R&B Billionaire stations. Sean is a creative artist who is constantly striving to represent dancehall music and his home of Jamaica. His dedication to his fans and peers are mirrored by their love of his music. The jubilant Paul expressed his thanks to both Pandora and his fans. He was even more grateful when representatives from the music platform came to his hometown and presented him with the plaque.

The recent accolade came right on the cusp of Sean Paul recently released album ‘ Live N Livin, which happens to be his first full length album released on his own label Dutty Rock Productions. He is putting together the final touch for the release of his next album “Scorcher”. You can best believe that Paul will continue to reach new streaming milestones with the support of his fans and the style of his music. Nonetheless, the “gimmie the light” dj wasn’t always feeling worthy of his work. He recently expressed that at time he feels “washed up” due to so many new artists getting the spotlight.

The recent milestone created history for Paul and dancehall. He is the first Caribbean-based talent to be inducted into the elite group with international hit makers from all genres, including R&B singing sensations Monica and Janet Jackson, gospel artist Kirk Franklin and country-pop singer Brett Young. Diego Herrera, Pandora’s head of Caribbean programming, called Sean Paul an ambassador for Jamaican music and its culture. He further extends credit to Shaggy and Spice for being so diverse while having great work ethics. He sees nothing but greatness as these three artists are great at collaborating with artists of other genres. This is important for growth and cultural diversity of the genre.
