The upcoming biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” is generating significant anticipation with its release scheduled for February 14, 2024. The film, distributed by Paramount Pictures, will be available for streaming on Paramount+ after its theatrical release. The premiere will take place in Kingston, Jamaica, on January 23, 2024. Paramount describes “Bob Marley: One Love” as a celebration of the life and music of the iconic Bob Marley, who inspired generations with his message of love, freedom and unity. The film portrays Marley’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music. The narrative includes intense moments, such as a scene depicting the 1976 assassination attempt on Marley inside his home. The film also highlights his historic performance at the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 1978, aiming to heal the political rift between Jamaica Labour Party and People’s National Party.

The cast includes Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley, Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley, James Norton as Chris Blackwell, Anna-Sharé Blake (aka Sevana) as Judy Mowatt, Naomi Cowan as Marcia Griffiths, Umi Myers as Cindy Breakspeare, Aston Barrett Jr. as FamilyMan Barrett, Gawaine “J-Summa” Campbell as Antonio ‘Gillie’ Gilbert, David Kerr as Junior Marvin, Hector Roots Lewis as Carlton Carly Barrett, Sheldon Shepherd (Yardie) as Neville Garrick, and Stefan A.D Wade as Seeco Patterson.

Kingsley Ben-Adir, despite lacking musical experience, prepared for the role by learning to sing and play the guitar. He performed all the songs with his voice during filming, combining it with Marley’s archival recordings in the final product. Reinaldo Marcus Green directed the film, and the screenplay was written by Zach Baylin, Terence Winter, and Frank E. Flowers. The Marley family, including Rita Marley, Ziggy, and Cedella, were involved in the production to ensure an authentic portrayal of Bob Marley’s life. Most of the family expressed their desire for the biopic to be meaningful and authentic.

Ziggy Marley (Bob’s son), shared a statement expressing the significance of the biopic, stating that it will provide a unique insight into his father’s life, allowing viewers to witness the legend’s pain, sorrows, joys, and redemption.
