Marie-Claire Giraud, an international acclaimed jazz singer, has been celebrated for winning the Jazz category at the 2024 InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA) for her original song Chasin’ Rainbows”. The annual award showcased global talents across several genres and celebrates musical excellence from around the world. Her triumph at this prestigious event was one to remember. The 2024 competition saw submissions from over 55 countries- underscoring the diversity and unity the awards strive to promote. The final list of 116 winners included artists across genres like Flamenco, Reggae, New Age, Asian Pop, and Jazz. Entries were also categorized by geographic regions, highlighting talent from Africa, Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Marie, who was born on the island of Dominica and raised in the Bronx, is a soprano and songwriter who sings Opera, Jazz, and does Musical Theatre. She has also been honored with citations from the New York State Senate, New York City Hall, and the United Nations. Marie-Claire’s diverse career includes performances at iconic venues like the Barclays Center, Madison Square Garden, New York City Hall, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, and Small’s Jazz Club in Jamaica. She has graced the stages at international festivals, including the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival and the Cartagena Jazz Festival.

The ICMA judges are industry professionals who praised the song for its melody, harmony, and originality. She is also a recipient of the NYC Caribbean Heritage Award and was also awarded for her career achievements and community service from the NAACP. The event was judged by experts from Hollywood’s music, entertainment, film, and media industries; entries were based on originality, message, melody, harmony, composition, and production quality.
